carb and no clue what to do

help!!! ok, so my 85 trans am is telling me the is a low vaccum(code 34). i have search to no avail to find any leaks in the vaccume lines. ok, now the carb ???. i went to drive the car and as i press the gas the car hesitates, like there is no fuel, then is fine, so i lift the hood and theres a whinning or hissing type noise from the carb and i notice the carb seems to be sticking. (remeber i have no clue when it comes to carbs as my other ride is fuel injected) Its a q-jet carb that came with the car and the flap on they top(notice my ignorance) which should open and close as you press the gas hardly moves. ok my question is whats wrong/ how do i fix, and can this affect my getting the code 34( low vaccumm)??

Your VAC (vacuum) sensor is probably bad if the line to it checks out to have vacuum. It's a little black thing, mounted on the driver's side of the firewall in camaros (not sure on TAs). It will have a 3 wire connector going to it, and a vacuum line made of hard plastic. You can test it if you have a vacuum pump anda voltmeter, but honestly it's probably bad if the vacuum line isn't broken. I don't think there is any other way to get that code in a computer controlled carb car.

Also, it is normal for those 'flappers' to barely open if at all when you're just revving the engine. They don't fully open until you are under load and really moving air. You'll blow the engine up before you get them to open fully just revving it.

I thought that the "flapper" was the choke?? But it also sounds like he has a CC carb, so that is probably a different world than the one I only know a little about as it is.
