M C selenoid sensor

I have an '87 camaro with an lg4 engine.it has a temp sensor in the themastat housing that has a single wire going to the m c selenoid in the carb. The piece in the thermestat housing is broken. The local GM dealer can not find this piece in his books. Does anyone know the exact name of this piece and/or the part number

This is completely from memory, since I'm about 1500 miles away from my car right now, but I'm not surprised he can't find anything that matches that description - something doesn't sound right.

There should be two sensors on top of the thermostat housing: a vacuum pressure switch, with vacuum hoses going to it; and the coolant temperature sensor, which should have a two-wire environmentally sealed connector on it. The MCS wires and the CTS wires should go into the engine harness, not to each other.

Take another look at it and see if it does indeed match this description. If so, sounds like you need a CTS.

I forgot to mention that this is a Canadian carb. I could not even find the carb # until I got a Canadian childon's book.
