I'm tired of taking this apart...
I apologize for the frustrated and whiney sounding topic, but I've had the carb apart about 20 times in the last few days. I don't know everything about the CCC, but I know enough to rebuild one I think. Well I had my uncle rebuild it when I got all my motor work done about a month ago. That carb had a very bad rich problem and we couldn't figure out why because it was fine before. When we replaced it with a used carb (same exact rods primary and secondary, but 2 jet sizes bigger) this carb was too lean. We attempted adjusting float, idle mixture and other things but no luck. so I took all of the internals out of the lean carb and put in the rich one. Still too rich. Put it all back in the lean one still too lean. The internals I moved are TPS, accel. pump, float, springs, MCS, jets, rods, and the cylinder thing that sits vertical by the fuel filter (I guess where the fuel comes in). I the cold idle linkage, and general carb body are in better shape on my original one (rich one), so I'd like to use those. Anyone know what I could try? I have two of everything. Thanks and sorry it's long.
John
P.S. I put a meter on the O2 sensor with both carbs. The original goes from .050V at idle and it just keeps rising from there all the way up to .900V when I don't even touch it, fouling the plugs. The lean one starts off at like .400-.300V for an instant and then drops down to like practically nothing also while holding it at about 1-2k because it won't idle by itself now. Then I get a code 44: o2 sensor lean.

Well, I am going to try and adjust the lean one as much as possible because it is the one on my car right now. I went out and started it today. Results: Cold idle is working perfect now, 1200 rpm dead cold. But when I kick it down, it idles about 5-10 seconds and then dies. Does this indicate that something on the idle circuit needs adjustment? (I assume so, but I don't know what) I don't think I changed anything when I had it apart but it is possible.
Thanks,
John
