gonna can the tbi

I've been wanting to do this since the day I bought this vehicle.
I read Jesters article, and I've got only a few quick questions before going ahead.

1)After disconnecting my ECM, will there be any damage done to it that will prevent it from being reinstalled in the future?
(Calif law requires that smog systems be intact at the time of transfer in my county)

2)It seems like the speedo runs through the ECM, is this true? Will the speedo still work after undoing the ECM?

Thanks for the great article and for help with ?s

1) not unless you really throw it in the fire like I suggest.

2. nope. It sort of Y's off to the ECM..if you yank the ECM the gauge will be unchanged.

That's good news, thank you.
I just got my BG AFPR a few days ago, time to roll.
I'll be putting a 2bbl on it even though I've got a 4bbl handy, cause there's not enough time for me to do the complete swap just yet, and I've got an adapter.
Later on I'll be putting in a new cam, timing chain, heads, performer intake and holley 600 V/S.
Something tells me there will be loads of improvement with this 2bbl swap tho'.
I'll keep you posted.
