all posible causes for high idle on CC-Qjet??

it's a junkyard carb,it seems to run fine,it fired right up with no smoke or back fire. it just doesn't want to idle lower than 2000rpms,the engine revs healthy and will die as soon as the ignition is turned off (no dieseling) wich I assume is a good sign.all the vaccume ports are pluged except the PVC line, the M/C is connected but the TPS is disconnected (need to repair harness) as well as the choke. disconnecting the M/C seems to make no difference. the CCs ususally won't affect the idle speed on a CCQ-jet,I know it will run with out them, just not as well.the egr is blocked over.

one more thing..the idle speed screw at the throttle lever isn't even touching the lever,so I didn't even bother with that. I apreciate the help,I know I could get this from a manual, but I'm a little short on money right now. thanks!

Disconnect the throttle cable while the engine is idling, see if it is holding it open. Make sure the choke is allowing the fast idle cam to disengage.

I have the same problem on my monte, it has a V6 CCC 2bl. Through feedback and a lil tinkering, here is what I found. I have found that my fast idle cam has begun to stick. When I first start car, (giving it no gas) it runs fine, but once I give it some gas it idles at about 1100rpm. I hvae to tap the pedal several times to get it to release. I have tried cleaner and lubricant, neither has worked. Thru a source on another board I was told that the bushings are in need of replacement. Only the naseplate needs to sent out for repair. I am in the process of replacing the V6 with and V8, somI am not going to waste the money. I hope this helps, DL

thanks guys,I've checked for that fast idle cam thing, but I'm still not sure where it is or what it looks like. the carb was quite crusty when I got it,I sprayed 3 cans of carb cleaner on it and it looks alright now but still mildly crusty. if I knew exactly what this fast idle cam was and how to clean it,I would be golden. I'm probably selling the car this weekend but it would still be nice to see how nicely the new engine idles. I'd like to do a rebuild if I don't sell the car this weekend,so I can post my experences or possibly a tech artical.
