another tpi to carb switch

my car is a 1985 iroc-z with a LB9 (305tpi) and by the looks of it carb sounds the way to go and im gettin rid of the tpi crap and i gotta know what all i have to do and how to do it. I'm kinda slow so you really have to tell me word for word also my car has 120,000 miles on it i was thinking of rebuilding it anyway. any answers on this would help out tons thanks, Trent.

Ever done an intake swap before?
Ever taken out your distributor?
If you haven't, get some practice or find an experienced helper for starters.
Overall, I'd have to say that carbs are easier to deal with tho', cause you can get into em without a lot of specialized equipment.

there is a lot of great info in old posts here. i been checking it out by using the search feature. you just put in certain words to find what you want. some posts tell you everything like exact part numbers to use and how to wire stuff.
I'm doing the same thing. my tpi and heads are off and i dropped my fuel tank already.

I'd get rid of the 305 before I dumped the TPI.. Build a mild 355 or 383 TPI...

F-BIRD88 I love all the other posts you've made and I agree with them too. Your advice on DIY headporting was great and I'm following some of that. I'm also getting tips from a david vizard book about porting heads too.
This is just my choice to make on making the 305 fast. Most of my add-ons and mods will transfer to about any small block later on anyway. The TPI is already history though so that's not even an issue. I would like to see how it will run with the 305 first.
thanks
