Choke Light

Choke Light

My choke light is on all the time what could be the problem. The car runs fine its a 305 with a q-jet. Anybody have any ideas?

Does it buzz? If so check the choke heater fuse, otherwise check the choke relay or the alternator.

It's the "Alternator" light too. You probably need one of those.

You need an alternator. Doesn't matter whether the choke relay is buzzing or not. Get yours tested. Don't fiddle around with a bunch of esoteric "maybe it's the wobbulator overbiasing the feeblevetzer" crap.

how could i need a new alternator the car rums fine and it doesn't have any problems charging.

I agree, check the easy stuff first--the alternator.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

Just take the dash face off and put black electrical tape over the little choke light window.

Problem solved and talk about simple!

If the car runs fine and is charging, why would he need an alternator?
