secondary/stutter question

hi guys i have a 305 with the stock q jet and a crane powermax 2032 camshaft, when i use the 4bbl in 1st gear (5 speed) the thing pulls like a bat out of hell, but when i hit 2nd it pulls a little then starts stuttering, also i notice it stutters in any gear holding a steady rpm, what would cause this? the camshaft is designed for 2000-5500 rpms, and i think 3.45 or higher gears, i have 3.23's could the rear gears be causing this? i'm upgrading to 3.73's soon.

I doubt if it is the gears. Check out the QJet article on the Tech Articles and follow the steps. Works very well.

My bogging problem was mostly corrected by putting a 50,000 volt coil in the ignition.

Also check your fuel pump and filter. That almost sounds like their classic signs.

Between the three things I mentioned, I'll bet you nail it down
