Holley

Hilo,
I want to tune my Holley 600 and want to know the easiest way to do it. Any information would be great. It's on a 350 SBC with an accel Dist. converted to mechanical (weights and spring) advance.
TIA.
Loki

What do you do with this car? If you drive it on the street (at least more than just getting it to the track), you would really benefit from a vacuum advance. Having or not having that will affect carb tuning.

For starters, I'd suggest you find a book that describes the theory on how the Holley works, which will also get you on the road to tuning it. As it is, we haven't got a clue if you understand floats, jets, power valves, accelerator pumps, primary vs. secondary circuits, idle circuits, etc. I got such a book from Summit when I got the carb. Not the best, perhaps, but it got me started, and it includes tuning tips.

Also, stock what heads? Cams affect tuning, as does exhaust (headers? cat back? size?).

Bottom line is tuning is a matter of trial and test. No one can tell you remotely exactly what you have to do to get the car running perfectly.
