idle off

a couple of days ago, i started my car and it began to idle high, between 1100-1250 rpm's depending on how warm the engine was(i didnt set the choke). i thought perhaps the secondaries were stuck, so i bought some carb cleaner and gave it a good spray for about 8 minutes while i played with the throttle. the idle went down to normal (750 rpm in park), but the minute i drove it, it came back up to 1250. the choke linkage is about 1 year old so i doubt its that. any ideas??

What kind of carb are you running? Is it an electric choke? If so, make sure it's "plugged" in. Sounds simple, but if it isn't that will cause the throttle to stick

Could be a worn out fast idle cam. My E2SE had that problem... first the fast idle became unpredictable (IE would fast idle sometimes when it really wasn't supposed to). Within a month the fast idle quit completely, and I had to manually give the motor gas when it was cold.
