New Fuel Pump.....Pressure probs.

Hey my in tank pump went bad the other day and I used the Walbor 255ltr per hour pump. Its the low pressure one but I still can not get the pressure below 8 1/2 psi. I have the Mallory regulator with return line......any ideas. Is that PSI fine??

Thanks

It's a bit on the high side. The reason you can't get it any lower is that a pump with that much volume will outrun the return line (i.e. there's nothing wrong with your regulator)! Keep in the back of your head that if you back the adjustment screw too far out you will have the very bad siutation of having 8.5 @ idle but only 3 PSI @ WOT as the restrictive return line stops being a factor and the regulator drops to the actual pressure you set it for. Remember, the return line has the MOST volume going through it at idle and the LEAST at WOT. You may wish to replace your stock 5/16" return line with larger 3/8" tubing if you find this to be your situation.

does the return line need to be tubing or Can I go back and run rubber return line.

Running rubber line all the way back under a car would be a very bad idea. Use Steel tubing.

I did the exact same thing going from TBI to carb and got my walbro 255 down to about 6 psi. Make sure you are using the correct combo of springs in it otherwise you'll never get it low enough. I used the stock fuel lines as well.
