Problem solved... by removing K&N?
Well, a little while ago i posted that my car would run great for the first minute or two after i choked it, and then it would lower the idle and run like crap. It even messed up the tranny making it shift into OD at 35mph! Well, i had had my friend's K&N on since i ran at E-town and his car was being redone (76 Maro). His car was finally done, so i gave him his K&N back and put my old one back on. Now the car is fine. It runs very well. My question is why did this happen? Did the K&N clog a sensor? Did the K&N just suck. It works fine in the 76 Camaro. That car will chirp all three gears at half throttle (not broken in yet). Maybe i can prevent this from happening again if i actually buy a K&N?

By "K&N", do you mean just the filter element, or an entire air cleaner assembly?
Although I don't have much respect for K&N's for their filtering of small particles (basically, they don't), I doubt that would be a cause for the described problems. An interference with the choke mechanism is one possible explaination if you were using an entire filter assembly.

Agreed. I would think that the filter caused some kind of mechanical interference somewhere- in perhaps a very sneaky way, but there's no way the filtering capability of it could cause a problem like this.

Actually i still have that same chrome 14" open element air cleaner, i just took out the filter part. It may have been a little too small or big for the cleaner. I'm just glad my car isn't a little bitc* anymore. I was tired of bogging every time i gave it more than half throttle. Thanks.

Air cleaner lid too close to the carb vent tubes.
Either use a taller filter or trim the vent tubes a little.
(cut at 30 degrees)
A K/N filter is a waste of money on a 15 sec car. They also don't trap small dirt like a stock paper element does. If I can run low 13's with a $10 14x2.5" paper filter, how much filter do you need.

Yeah, after i lost power and only had problems with the K&N, i wasn't planning on spending $60 on one to make my car run worse. Thanks for your help.
