Building 350TBI to Carburetor
Building 350TBI to Carburetor
Im looking for a new motor for my `83 Firebird. I have found an `89 TBI motor and as we know the TPI-s are better than TBI-s, the following question occured:
Is there a perfomace difference building carb on TBI or TPI. I mean, is for example "previlously TPI motor with carburetor" better than "previously TBI motor with carburetor".
Ok. Is it better to get TPI motor for buliding to carburetor or there is no difference??? Should i get this TBI, or i should wait and look forward to get TPI?
Thanks!

If you really want a carburated engine, and you're starting off with a fuel injected one, then I'd say that the fuel injection type originally on the engine doesn't really matter. Basically everything that is related to the fuel injection will have to be pulled off for the carburated system. If you converted a TPI and a TBI engine, side by side, both to carb, you would see no difference between the two.
All this is, of course, dependant on the fact that you're changing the heads and the camshaft.
TPI engines came with better heads and cam. Something to keep in mind if you're on a budget.
