Are you sure it already has a spring?

Yes...you do. In fact...you need 2 At least to be legal at any track...and it's not a bad idea anyway.

There's no way in **** you'll want to trust just using that shaft spring.
Get a good quality spring, and the pedal will not feel hard.
You can get one of those twin springs (one inside the other) for cheap.

I don't even think that shaft spring is a considered a return spring? I think it just gives the throttle shaft some tension.
Don't Q-Jets have the same deal?

I had an Edelbrock carb on my last motor and that spring on it is not enough..you need to add another return spring.

Ever had a throttle stick wide open while approaching stopped traffic or your garage back wall or the like? Ever watch footage of NASCAR wrecks where this happens, and people get killed when they hit the wall at 180 mph?

Now, do you think it's worth the $2 for an additional spring?

I'll admit I am guilty of only having one spring on my quadrajet, to give the pedal a lighter feel which gives me in my opinion better feel on when the secondaries are about to open. With them all stiff I was too busy fighting the stiff and would get socked when theyd open. At least now Im ready for the kick.

If running one MAKE SURE its in good shape. When I first got my car running with the 305, I hit WOT and had it stick open and that was extremely scary, going 50 on that back road and pulling still. Had to put it in nuetral and turn it off. Only had one spring, and it was weak, and wouldnt return it.
