Varajet Air Valve
Varajet Air Valve
Hey guys
The Air Valve for the secondary on my varajet is stuck open, and as a result the car almost dies whenever the secondary opens.
It feels like there is a heavy spring force holding it open, but i can't see, feel, or find what could be the cause. The haynes rochester manual wasn't any help iether. Any ideas???

Unfortunately, the majority of carb people who visit this forum are V8 guys. And, the carb only lasted a couple of years on 3rd gen V6's.
I had one of those on an '80 Citation 2.8 (that went over a quarter million miles before the body fell off around it). But, it's been almost 8 years since I had it, and longer than that when I put a kit in it. I have a mental picture of the carb, but not the mechanism itself. I believe the Haynes Citation shop manual had a chapter on the carb, but I gave the book away with the car. Oh, that one was mechanical, non-CC as well.
Carb kits have good exploded views and instructions with them. Since you'll probably have to take it apart to fix whatever's wrong with yours, that would probably be a good first step.
Otherwise, you might try the guys on the V6 forum if you haven't already.
