Learned a tech tip about storing a carb.

You know the story about getting a carb off a guy to try and the damn thing never runs right or leaks, cause it sat around and dried up. I talked to the guy I borrowed the 830 from and he says when he pulls a carb, he'll pull the top bolt off the front and back bowl and then fill the bowls with WD-40. I pulled the bowls off to change the power valves, drained out the WD, put it back together, bolted it on and verooooom, veroooom. Not a problem and it's been sitting since last spring and I installed it this fall. Don't know if it was dumb luck, but it's the first used carb I've seen that came from sitting around that did'nt have a problem.
So when I pulled off my 750 I did the same, if anybody ever wants to use it, we'll see if that's the trick.

That is a good tip. I pulled an Edelbrock off one of cars thats been sitting a lot over the last 5 years, and it was pretty much dried up. Nothing a rebuild kit didn't fix.

Did you happen to catch Nascar Tech today? If not they had a funny bit with WD-40. How about use #752 - Helps remove snakes from your engine compartment!!!

Would the same go for a Holley? I've got a 600 sitting idle right now, and I'm wondering if I've done any damage. Will Holley rebuild kits replace all that I damaged?

BTW, what's with the cross, brodyscamaro?

The WD treatment is a preventative maintenance thing, after I drained all the fuel out of my Holley-pulled bowl bolts and tilted every which way then opened and shut butterflies- filled her full of WD and then pumped the linkage till it shot out the nozzles and called it good. Like I said we'll see if and when someone ever tries it on they're car in the future, but being a VS it's highly unlikely.
