Burning smell??

Hello,

Im not the most knowledgable person when it comes to cars.. Im still learning.. Anyways, when I hammer my car to the floor I get a nasty burning smell. Talking to my mechanic friend he thinks it might be my holley 750 craming too my gas into my cat, as its too big for my 305 (I didn't put it on - it was there when I bought the car).. Could this be making that smell..

Thanks..

if you were getting to much fuel it would likely bog and and smell like gas if you were running way to rich.

Well I can start the car up and floor it and it will give off the smell.. so this dosn't only happen when the car has been running for a while..
