305 TBI Strong Unburnt Fuel Smell in and Around car.

Hey guys, just got my 1989 Firebird 305 TBI back on the road.

Now I'm starting to eliminate problems one by one.

Since I got the car it's had a strong gas smell, like the TBI is pumping too much fuel into the motor, and it's unable to burn it all off. Last time I cleaned my TBI the Air cleaner was wet inside (which I'm assuming was gas based on the smell)

What do I do about this? id like to at least burn the gas I'm using while it burns a whole in my pocket

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like an injector leak, possibly a bad pressure regulator. Look at the injector while the car is running and see if it is spraying anywhere but where it should. And then have some one shut the motor off and see if it is still peeing, could be stuck open.

Okay thanks! I'll try that out tomorrow.
