550 cfm should be adequate. If you plan mods in the future, perhaps a 650.

Holley, Edelbrock, q-jet - pretty much up to you. Whatever you get, you'll have to do some tuning. Don't forget you'll need a new distributor as well.

Oh, don't worry about the cfm rating of a q-jet. Whatever you get should work fine.

You probably won't see any HP gain until you do other things like exhaust, cam, and heads.

The cfm rating is the amount of air that the carb can take in right? So you could tune a 670 holley SA on a mild 305? I want that carb because i plan on heads/cam/intake everything and then plan on putting it all on a 350

Yes. The off-idle response may not be as crisp as it would with a 570, mileage might not be quite as good. It won't be used to full capacity. But, it would run fine.

I plan on a l98 shortblock with a cam, rpm air gap intake, and 58cc world heads so i will probably need a 670 then.

Yeah they sell a wiring kit for that in jegs for like 120$... You dont have to have it tho if your TC doesnt lockup the only thing that happens is youll loose a few MPG so dont let that keep you from the swap. You could always do that when you get the chance or whatever. Buddy of mines grand am was stalling because the TC LU so we just unhooked the sensor wire...runs fine.

How hard would that 670 be to tune on a 305? the car is a daily driver and i hope to get all these mods done over xmas break. The car will be completely transformed so Im sure its gonna run real funny if at all.
