haven't had a day this bad in awhile.
I bought a fuel filter for my 86 lg4. I pop the hood and go to work. I twist the fuel line so bad it rips. oh well, checked the archives and found a solution. I miss work and the boss sounded pissed. oh well. I get everything ready and start the car. Fuel spraying everywhere. I check the inlet thing going to the carb and it's freakin crooked. pull it out and put it back in as gingerly as possible. retry three more times, and it's still spraying fuel everywhere. I've pretty much concluded that i've cross-threaded the fuel filter housing part that's in front of the carb. help. Oh, and to top crap off i was supposed to smog my car today. help. help. help. I'm guessing i'd try teflon tape to see if it'd help seal better. Any ideas would be very helpful. thanks.

That sucks about the carb, as far as I'm concerned it would be a total.
But there are fuel inlet nuts available that are made for stripped carbs; one of them would probably take care of your problem.

thanks for the replies. My uncle gave me some weird pipe sealant thing (he's a plumber) that MIGHT do the trick. The stuff said that it can even be used with fuel type systems. Oh well, might as well give it a shot. I'll have to check today if the stuff worked. If not, i'll follow all your suggesions and check for a thread tap thing and different fitting. *fingers crossed* If worse comes to worst, i guess i'll have to go carb hunting on ebay. hasta la pasta.
