Max. Hp for CC Q-Jet?

Well from what i understand i will be able to switch the CC Q-jet from a 86 Iroc which had orginally only had a 305 to the 355 i will be putting in the car. Looking at previous threads the Q-Jet can be modified to run 750 cfms. If properly tuned and modified/rebuilt what would this carb be good for power wise? I'm only going to be making about 330-350 Hp now with the 355 but i want to be able to "grow" and hopefully put out 450 or so hp in a year or two. Will i be safe with the CC Q-jet? Thanks for the help

q-jet power

I am currently running a q-jet on a 406 and it has made over 375 hp on an engine dyno at 5,000 rpms. From what I know about the CC q-jets when you nail the throttle to the floor the metering is the same as a non-cc q-jet. Just remember all q-jets are 750's except for a few that are 800cfm. Edelbrock does make a Performer RPM 850 Q-jet. Right now the 406 does not need a carb that big so I will stick with my 800cfm off a 74 Cadillac.

We made dyno runs with a 600cfm vaccuum Holley and a 650cfm Double Pumper and the q-jet put them both to shame throughout the RPM range. The engine builders had never run a Q-JET on the engine dyno and could not believe there eyes. They weren't laughing at me after that. All the guys there at the shop were making fun of me until we made 3 pulls with the q-jet and they were all scurrying trying to hide from me.

No sweat whatsoever. People are making 500 hp, easy.
