holley wont run right

my dad has a holley carb on his truck it is a holley 625cfm(or sumthin) street avenger vaccum secondary. but heres the deal. it keeps sputterin and wont stay running. its like it keeps loading up. now it will only stay running with the float all the way at the bottom but in the sight glass it looks like the gas is at the top. but if u raise the float up any it wont stay runnin. its only got 65 jets in it and a 6.5 power valve this is on a stock motor and i figure thats good. we changed the power valve still nuttin. please help. thanks

That would be either too high a fuel pressure or a faulty needle/seat.

Or faulty float(taken on fuel making it heavy).

Needle and seat, or a pin hole in the float. I would Take the carb off and clean it first, it might have gotten trash in it somehow. Put it back on and adjust the float level. It should be right at the bottom of the sight plug. If that doesnt work, replace the float.
