Backfiring Carb...
I have had my timimg set, but my carb continues to backfire? Is the mixture control solenoid in need of adjustment? If so is there a tool i can purchase to sdjust it instead of having to take of the top of the carb?

Under what conditions does it backfire? Is it backfiring through the carb or out the exhaust?

It doesn't sound like a carb problem. Are you sure the timing is right? Is the firing order correct?

Does it do it more when hot, or cold; or when it's under load, or idling; or at any other speed, or just that one, or worse at that speed than any other; is it rhythmic, like is goes once per engine rev or once per every 2 engine revs, or is it totally random; does it do the thing where you give it gas, it kind of sputters most of the time, but sometimes it pops and maybe even dies after it pops; etc. etc. More info about the pattern of behavior would really help narrow down possible causes.
Carbs don't backfire by themselves. There's something else wrong. Sometimes running lean will make a car do that, and sometimes it's a broken part of some sort.
Timing rarely causes that, unless somebody has been twiddling with it. It doesn't just up and move. If you adjusted the timing, and all of a sudden it started acting up, then maybe it's the timing; but otherwise, cross that off your list altogether.

My quadrajet was backifiring every time I revved it, I called my father out to help me look for my "exhaust leak" (it sounded like one) and he started touching wires, and got zapped. Turns out it was running on 7 cylinders. VOila, runs on 8, all better. Check the wires, its simple to do. If you accused me at that time of not connecting the plug wires right I'd tell you Im not stupid. Well apparantly I was
