going tpi to carb
going tpi to carb
the car is an 89 trans am with an L98, now a 355. i was running a vortech s-trim on it but i experienced problem after problem with the ECM and all that other computerized stuff. im gonna go from TPI to carb in about a month and i was wondering what type of intake/carb combo i should go with.
i plan on leaving the bottom half of the engine alone. it has a compression ratio of about 9.3:1 with the stock heads. ive already worked out a deal with a local dealer for a brand new set of fast burn heads for 950 complete. also, im using a zz4 cam. i know what i need in terms of throttle linkages, ignition, headers and fuel pumps. all i need now are some ideas for intake/carb combos.
any suggestions out there?
almost forgot, the car has a 700R4 with vette stall (dunno exactly what stall speed is) with 3.27s in the rear

Edelbrock performer or performer RPM, or weiand stealth intakes seem to be popular. Then for carbs there's holley or edelbrock, there are others too.
One big question is, whether or not you want it to fit under the stock hood. I don't have an F body so I don't know for sure what will fit.

Use a Vortec intake with the Fastburns, with their tall intake runner design a regular intake wouldn't be ideal I wouldn't think. You can fit the Performer RPM under the stock Z28 hood with a drop base aircleaner...
Maybe try the HOTcam instead of the zz4, it's a cheap 30+ hp with the fastburns...

thanks for the input ray. i think im leaning towards a performer RPM and a 750cfm carb. i really would like to get the hotcam but im not sure if i can afford it right now. maybe sometime in the future
