Testing M/C Solenoid?
Is there any way to test a Mixture control Solenoid? Long story, check the post I made in the DFI/ECM board if intrested.
I jus need to know if the M/C Solenoid I got from the junkyard is good or not...
THanks!

what kind of carb is it? for a quadrajet you need to warm up the engine and connect a multimeter set on dwell in the 6 cylinder mode connect the positive clip to the M/C solenoid pigtail connector. Atatch the other end to a ground be mind full of touching other things hose clamps any other thing that might interfere with the readinglet the engine idle at part throttle it will read between 5 and 55 degerees and will be varying. this varying will verify that the m/c is working and the ECM is varying the mixture according to my rochester manual hope this helps

Okay I need some clarification
one should the pigtail still be connected to the MC Solenoid?
and two which is the positive? The pink/black 12V wire or the light colored one from the computer?
if I am supposed to test it with the pigtail still connected how do I connect to any metal of the wire without stripping it?

not sure wich one is the positive you will have to check by keeping your ground hooked up on your meter and probing you should be able to push the prob in between the the wire and the pigtail where the wire enters the conector off hand i would have to say its the one runnig from the ECM but it would be best to check. let me know how this turns out for you:rockon:
