hood clearance

got a quick question about hood clearance, '85 firebird 305 stock intake, i'm putting on a carter carb, i'll have to use a carb spacer-adapter, what air cleaner will i need, will it clear with a flat base air cleaner, or will i need a drop base? any ideas on how much of a drop?
thanks

You will need a drop base. Measure your current air cleaner's drop, add the spacer thickness, minus about 1/2" - that's the new drop you'll need.

Good luck.
