mechanical/electric fuel pumps
what are the pros and cons of running a electric (holley red) or a mechanical fuel pump...
which is less of a headache to run when converting from a tpi..
are lt1 blocks drilled for a mechanical fuel pump?
thank guys!!

I don't think LT1 blocks are drilled for a fuel pump pushrod.
As for an electric fuel pump vs. a mechanical, mechanical is simpler! I'm running an electric pump right now, and I'm not sure if it's supplying enough fuel.
Are you trying to run a carb on an LT1 block?

Well, the lines were totally different for me than they will be for you. Actually, the way I did the lines may be part of my problem! I went from a mechanical pump to electric (the block I have doesn't have the hole drilled for the pump rod) and I pretty much just replaced the mech with electric pump. I mounted it under the hood on the frame rail right next to where the pump pad is on the engine. The fact that I'm pulling so far instead of pushing from the tank may be part of my problem. I need to hook up a pressure gauge to see. I think the Carter "Street Pump" that I have should be enough for now, I'm eventually going with TPI anyway, so I'm doing this on the budget!
My problem may be just my AV spring. I basically get nothing when I open the secondaries. I was testing this out yesterday by adjusting it, and evidently my belts didn't like 5500 rpm's very well! A couple of them flew off, and the way I have the pump wired (which I'm also changing) it won't run if the alternator isn't charging.
After I do some of the tuning that is linked to in the Tech Section, if it still isn't better, I'll post asking for help!
