idle problem

driving to work last two days, the non-cc rebuilt q-jet has decided it likes a 400 rpm idle, it drives fine otherwise but come to a stop, it drops down, struggles to stay alive and will usually die, when at 400-500rpms, the idle will not differ from stopped in gear and stopped in park, any ideas? The carb was rebuilt like 4 months ago so im i little pissed off. Thanx

Honestly if I had the answer I would give it to you because my Nova is doing the same thing. I just keep on the gas at ALL times...sucks but you get used to it. I think my problem is a piece that holds the accelerater lever "dont know the real name" on the side of the carb came off. Good luck.

I had the same poblem with my 84 Z28. I just bought it a few weeks ago. I was going to get it rebuilt but shot it with some carb cleaner and am running new gas with Gumout cleaner in it.

Do you have new gas in the tank or has it been sitting for a while?

Took it out today and now it likes to idle at 750 rpm--seems a little high??

gasis always been fresh, now its given up the idle problem and went on to a very bad bogging problem, and 750 rpm is a good idle, i prefer about 600 or 650 myself though
