How do I get the idle plugs out of my quadrajet?
How did you guys do it? The manual says to saw a notch in the throttle body, then "use center punch to break plug apart, to uncover idle mixture needle. Remove all loose pieces of plug."
I don't know what musclehead wrote this manual, but my plug didn't break apart. It bent my punch. Then it smoothed out all the rough teeth on my hacksaw, dulled one of my drill bits, snapped another drill bit in half, and in the end I think one of the plugs is further in the hole than when I started.
How the hell do I get this out? And why's it even there in the first place?

Yeah, the throttle body does seem much softer. How much material can I remove? Can I drill all around the plug? ie, make the hole bigger so it falls out? I sawed like it says in the book, I've hit it but it won't budge.
Sheesh, no wonder everyone just buys Holleys.
EDIT: finally got them out the other day. In case someone else has the same troubles, I used a carbide bur and a lot of patience.
