Holley or Rocherster
Hi, my friend has a Holey 600cfm on his jeep YJ (modified 360)
well he say he get bad gas mileage (must be his BBIIIGG cam)...
anyway he wants to trade me his holley wich is NEW!! for my QuadraJet that I have just rebuilt.
First of all I dont know if i'm better off with the holley or not... my qjet bolw is leaking internally too... i've not check if from the plug that are epoxied... wich makes my car run rough and pour out smoke when started hot (from the extra fuel that leaked in the intake), and it's looong to start cold because the bowl is empty.
with the Holley i would need smaller jets... i guess a new intake too, but thats not a bad idea
and other problem is the choke, it's manual, my qjet is electric, i'd like to stay this way... i dont realy want to drill a hole in my firewall for a choke cable that would look getto under the dash.
the holley have 2 floats and mechanic secondary, wich are much smaller then the qjet ones...
it look like this one, but i dont have the #

my qjet is the original one of the car... canadian car, so it's non-cc
So should i get the Holley or fix my Qjet.
Thanx...

Six one way half dozen the other. That holley picture is a vacuum secondary model, so it will work very well for your app. You will need an adapter plate to run the holley though. I personally think the guy is insane, you can pick up quadrajets for cheap at junkyards all day long, and if it's only a 600 cfm vac secondary holley the only way it'd be a the cause of his bad gas milage is if his jetting was WAAAAY off.
