K & N air filters
hey, i'm not sure what board to post this on so i'm posting it in a few.
i have an 84 TA with 4bbl HO carb with the hood scoop. my question is what k&n should i use and what k&n Xstream. bcuz i still need the top air cleaner lid to fit, i think u all know what i mean. i think it's a 11 in filter but not sure.

Dont know the exact size or number for that one. Just ask the parts store for the K&N filter for your car. I dont think they have an Extreem lid that will work correctly with your setup.

Im pretty sure they dont make one for that. Just go to checker or autozone and pick up an edelbrock open element air cleaner witha drop base and forget the stock air intake.

Can't go along with that advice. The factory HO air cleaner assembly is better than any open element ever could be.
I'd also recommend an AMSOIL air filter over K&N - just as good of flow & dirt holdinig capacity, more efficient removal of small particles. www.amsoil.com

I believe the K&N filter is E-1450 for your setup or any other LG4, L69, or L03. (I have the same from an 83 car). I've wondered if an Xtreme lid would fit under the stock OUTER lid and replace the 11" (I think) lid that fits over your air filter. Never tried it though.
I just have a regular FRAM paper filter. Somehow I find it hard to believe that the K&N would flow so much more that it would be worth the $$$. Especially on an LG4 or L69.

I had the same setup and the filter measures around 12" and no xtreme lid will fit over that. I switched over to a custom open element\cold air thing so that i could use the 14X3 and lid.
