First tune-up on my first IROC

Howdy all,
So today was a rainy day in Lansing MI so I figured it was a great opportunity to do my first tune-up in my new baby. So I headed up to Autozone for the following....
5qts Mobile 1 High Millage 10-40 (only took 4 so will check again in morning)
Bosch oil filter
Auto lite Platinum plugs gapped at 0.045"
STP air filters
Duralast fuel filter ( didn't change looks like P/O changed looks brand new)
Lucas injector cleaner
So I have to tell you I have wrenched on many OLDS and quite a few JAP bikes and nothing challenged me like this tune-up!!! I discovered plugs are much easier to change underneath. I also discovered that when (8) plugs are screwed in the car runs ALOT better. The #5 Plug was only about 3-4 threads in... I was going to post pics of plugs, but maybe I should put them in an album to view, not sure how many pics per thread we are allowed, can someone confirm how many I can post per thread?

Money well spent

Re: First tune-up on my first IROC

Hey everyone I'm a little stumped. My oil change only took (4) Qts but I read that my engine (5.0L "F" Code) takes (5) Qts less filter, so what's going on? I let the oil drip for about 5 hours before replacing. I am wondering if the dipstick was replaced sometime in its life.

Have you started the car yet ?
If the stick says full
run it for 1 minute then shut it off and let it sit for 10 minutes for the oil to trickle down and test again.

Also check to see that the car is on level pavement.

Re: First tune-up on my first IROC

Hey Ron,
The wife and I took her out for about a 30 mile scoot through some local twisty's, level was full when we left. I just went and check after sitting for about 5 hours and the mark is still on full. The side of dipstick with letters appears to have oil half way up the stick, the opposite side without letters, the oil line stops dead at the full mark. This was only (4) quarts and I thought I was supposed to have 4.25 including filter. Go figure????

Re: First tune-up on my first IROC

Mine takes just a tad under 5qts and I use the tall filter with mine.
Maybe its the temperature of the oil being drained or the angle of the car in the air. Its tough to get it all.

I buy a lot of my tune up parts from Summit Racing. I love the Summit Brand Wires . The rest is MSD such as cap and rotor.
If you don't have one yet ask for a free catalog. = http://www.summitracing.com/?gclid=C...FewRMwodtioAbg

Re: First tune-up on my first IROC

Hard to say about the oil level, the car was not jacked up, the garage floor is pretty level. The oil was hot when drained, which does have a heavier viscosity but, did drip for several hours so it should have cooled. I just can't believe that much oil would have been suspended in the block / heads to make it read full after only (4) qts.
I am still, searching and taking polls on who has good wires, so thanks for the input on your experience with cap/rotor.
