Few questions for a guy who knows nothing about carbs

How exactly does a carb work as opposed to a fuel injected vehicle?

Whats the advantages and disadvantages of running carb over FI?

Thanks.

Carb - basically sucks fuel from a pool and mixes it with the air that's rushing into the cylinders.

Check out www.holley.com . They have a section that explains the theory and works.

Advantages? They're cheap because they've been around so long (Henry Ford used one on his first car). They are reasonably simple and adjustable. Can make more power with one cheaper than you can with FI.

Disadvantages? They are open-loop (input-only, no feed-back - except for factory computer-controlled carbs, and then only under some conditions), difficult to cover all driving conditions. Since they draw from a pool of fuel, they are susceptible to g-forces. Don't tend to be as fuel-efficient as EFI.
