fuel line

I am going to put a new fuel line in my carbed 87 RS, do i need a return line going back to the tank? Plus there is a vacuum line going to the tank, what is that line for? Also, can i buy a performance fuel pump that can be mounted right inside the tank.
Thanks

You can put a high-volume electric pump in the tank. If you do that, you'll need to use a regulator with a return line to the tank.

You don't really have a vacuum line to the tank. You have a vent line that once (at least) went to an evaporation charcoal canister up in the engine compartment. It's not a bad idea to keep that canister.
