new stall=new tuning?
I haven't really been able to test my car at the track yet after I got my new trans w/ 2600 stall installed.
So far it certainly seems to leave harder and I think a 1.9 60' is doable, however I am definatly down on power on the top end. I've done some highway racing against a friend who traps nearly the same as me before, but now he smokes past me with ease. I'd say I'm down a good 4-5mph.
However since the engine has way different load characteristics on it now, is it possible my old tune just isn't what the engine likes anymore? I've been told that since the engine has vitually no load until 3000 I should get more aggressive with my timing curve with more initial and total timing in before 3000 rpm.
Do you think i might gain anything back by playing with the carb? it seems to have a slight dead spot if i punch it from a roll so I might try adding more fuel with the accelorator pump.
plugs show a dark grey colour
Any ideas would be appreciated this weekend I'm going to be floggin on the old girl quite a bit. I'm hoping to gain that .3 seconds that ACT was claiming I should get..

So, how'd the flogging go?
Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I was busy Thursday-Sunday with my own flogging (see my Proform/Ram Air/Best Time thread).
I lost MPH at the top end when I went from 2200 to 3500 stall. But, picking up at least .2 in 1/4 ET and more consistent launches made it more than worth it to me. I didn't do any tuning from the 650 DP after the stall change, but did after the Proform main body change and cool air induction. It didn't really pick up on the MPH with tuning.
Density altitude was a different story completely. That brought back some lost MPH.

well it turns out my lack of power was due to my 'ram air' that I had set up. I went back to open element and gained 4mph
I went back to my old carb setting and timing and got my 101mph back, so it seems like the TC didn't change my top end at all after all. *phew*
I wasn't able to take full advantage of the TC at the track I was at though, very bad traction and could only repeat my 2.0 60' once. Hopefully I will have a chance to get onto a real track once more before the season is up.
