Adjusting Fuel Pressure on Mallory 4309
ya i was just wondering how to set the fuel pressure on that mallory 4309 regulator... i had a guage hooked up to it like i took the end off the carburetor and turned the key so the pump was pushin.. and the guage read like 2 , 2 1/2... PSI... carb should have 5.5 - 6.5 right... but is that the accurate reading i got or did i do it all wrong.. ?? but theres that alanhead screw intop of the regulator with a nut on it.... just lossen the nut and turn the alanhead screw in or out to ajust the pressure right... when i did that i turned it almost all the way out and it stayed right at that 2 , 2 1/2 psi... i must be doin it all wrong or somethin... i need some guidance as too what and how i should actually be doing this... thanks for the help..

You did it right, i can't remember if tightening/loosening(sp) ups the pressure. I think tightening it, I mean turn the allen wrench clockwise. The pressure should go up, you will just have to mess with it untill it goes up.
good luck
good luck
i have the same regulator and the nut on tp does control the pressure. What you are doing wrong is that when you turn the key it only prime the pump. in other words pump comes on for a sec then shuts off. THerefore the pressure can't be changed. What you need to do is start the motor and then adjust. Make sure the you don't set it to high because it can ruin the carb, i knkow it did it. I have one problem with mine i can't fine tune it like i thought i could the best i get is 5 psi when my edelbrock say 5.5 is the best. o well
