which carb to switch to?

I need for someone to give me an opinion on what carb to switch to. Right now i'm running a edelbrock 795 quadrajet on a 305. Yep a 795 lol. Everyone tells me to go to a 650 or a 600. i've asked about a 650 dp and basically ppl tell me a 650 dp isnt either better than what I got right now.

I've ran my camaro at the track and the fastest I have ran is a 15.70(last Dec. when it was cool). I have added a fiberglass and 40 seris flowmaster and i didnt really do jack lol. then I changed out the cam with a crain cam 454 lift with new lifters and timing chain and still didnt do jack lol.

I got a 3.73 rearend to switch out and I can get headers to help me out. but what carb should I go with.

Note: I made it from Gulfport, ms to Jackson, Ms(180 miles) in 2 hours on a 1/2 of gas!! I get good gas mileage.

leave it.... why change it..

you're getting good gas miliage.... you arnt complaining about the throttle responce.... now just build the rest of the car up to be as fast as the carb can let it

I ran 15.21 with what's done in my sig I'm sure it'll do high 14's though Did a jet change not too long ago and it really helped out. Tracks are closed up now and the 305 is coming out so I'll never really know

The beauty of the q-jet is it'll get good gas mileage (which you already know), and adjust itself to the flow required by the engine. Going to a DP would reduce mileage and would not increase power. It is possible your times would improve a little by improving your 60' times, but unless you do this racing on a regular basis, and it's the main purpose of the car, you'll probably miss the economy more than you'll like the improved performance.

the carb's only job is to supply air and fuel.

it obviously flows more then enough air for your combo...

and as long as you're tuned right and getting the right amount of fuel for your engine, you're fine...

you wont make any more power from changing carbs..

Yep you are right MrDude I get good throttle response. I've done gutted every wire, bracket and anything else that doesnt belong under the hood for weight reduction.

It is nice knowing I have one of the biggest carbs at the track lol.

The beauti of a Q-Jet is it automaticly sizes it self to your motor.

Even , when your motor is "Not Enough".

That carb is not too big. It will only open the secondary air door
as much as your motor needs.

That carb is capable of supporting over 500hp when used on a motor that makes that much power.
Then it will open up all the way. No need to replace it.
