holley question...
alright guys, here is my problem. i tune the carb so that it idle real nice and steady and the car works great. then, i drop into second and hammer it down the interstate. when i come to a stop when i exit the interstate, the car shuts off. it won't even think about idleing, like it's set way too low. i tune the car again, idles fine...hammer it....come to a stop....dies. tune...fine...hammer...stop...dies...any ideas???holley 600vs dual feed on top of a torker II intake on a 305 with a blue racer cam .442i/.465e, roller rocker arms, 9.5:1cr...

Are the idle mixture screws on the dies of the primary metering block turning them selfs in every time you drive the car?
there are little cork round washers that fit in the hole for the idle mixture screws so they don't get out of adjustment all the time.
They may be missing or dried out.

ok, see, that's what i thought might be the problem, but i haven't had the opertunity to check. although the idle mixture screws did seem very easy to turn. it's only when i REALLY get on it. normal driving is fine though...
