SS Hood Clearence Question?
well after all the research ive done, it just looks like the only way to get real horsepower is to just build a carb. engine. ive got a 85 z-28 305 tpi. my original plan was to just build a high flow tpi 350 for it, but then i learned ive gotta burn a new chip or switch out my computer. so i figure the hell with all of that, i think im just gonna build a carb. 350. my new SS hood just came in for my car, and im planning on building the motor sometime early next year. (after the holidays get over with). so my question is, what size breather do all you out there use with an SS hood, and what intake manifold do you have? i was hoping to get an RPM intake under there, but their kinda tall, so i didnt know if that would work? any info is greatly appreciated! thanks!
I've got an RPM intake, stock Quadrajet, and an L69 dual snorkel that fit under the stock hood - with ES motor mounts. The SS hood should have another 2" clearance. In that case use the Air-Gap RPM instead of the regular RPM.
