Avenger carb running lean

I recently purchased a Holley Avenger carb for my 84 z28 with 5.0 H.O. bored .30 over. I am having a problem when I am cruising between about 1200 and 3200 rpms the air fuel meter goes lean.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to solve the problem?
Also is anyone else running the same setup? If so what changes have you made to the carb to get it to run better?
Thanks for reading,
Mike Stanley

How lean? if it does not surge or knock, its not likely too lean.

The best thermal efficientcy (gas mileage) is achieved with a air fuel ratio
that is leaner the 14.7:1 at cruise. A little on the lean side is good.

As long as its not too lean where one cylinder is misfireing ( surge) then your likely ok.
Your AFR guage will be a little leaner than 14.7 at cruise.

If you supect a problem the first thng to do is to eliminate the possibility of a vacuum leak.

After this you could replace the carbs primary main jets
with some .002" .004" larger ones. 1-2 jet sizes larger.
