Fuel Return Line

I have a Holley Mechanical Fuel Pump part# HLY-12-834. This pump do not have a fuel return line, so what should I do about that? This is a sbc w/ non-emission carb (670 Street Avenger). What type of problem will I have from not running a return line. I have not notice any excess fuel dripping in the drive way or garage. What type of problems will I get from not having the return line installed. I also dont have the canister the was for all the unburned fuel.

To my knowledge and it has been awhile since I worked with carburators so I might be wrong, a mechanical fuel pump going to a carburator does not require a fuel return line and the canister is used to purge fuel vapors, not store unburned fuel.
