Check ball/spring in cc Qjet
Quick question, this is for a cc Qjet. Does anyone know if there is a spring required with the check ball under the accelerator pump? The check ball drops down in the hole and a scew goes into the top of the hole, but I'm not sure if this spring goes in or not. You can't tell by the rebuild kit diagrams, it doesnt show one but who knows? I'm having an off-idle flat spot and wondering if this spring is not letting my motor getting the full pump shot under slight acceleration?
Thanks, Ben

Thanks five7, thats the same diagram that came in my rebuild kit, and it doesnt show a spring but for some reason, when I tore apart one of my spare carbs it has a tiny spring in there that would have the effect of putting downward pressure on the check ball. Thought maybe there was a flaw in the diagram so I put it back in my rebuilt carb. It has a little flat spot/hesitation off idle, say, if cruising the freeway. Wondering if this could be it. It shoots gas out the discharge holes when the pushrod is worked, but think it may not be getting enough. I'll tear it apart in an hour here and take the spring out and we'll see how it works.

Time's up...
If there's a spring on top of the check ball, pump pressure would have to be higher to unseat the ball. That may require more movement than normal, and therefore the flat spot.

I took it apart and removed the spring, and reset the float, it was a little high. I'll wont know how it runs until I drive it to work here real soon tho.
