Fuel Pump Help

I have a new setup going in this spring: Engine Setup: 357cid w/AFR 195, Comp XE274, KB Flat-tops, RPM Air-Gap, 750 Speed Demon DP, Crane Gold RR, Hooker LTs

One thing I am still concerned about is the fuel system. I don't even know which Carter electric in-line pump I have, but I suspect that it is the 110 LPH one.

Should I be switching to a Holley Blue or similar system?? Do I need larger fuel line? This is not an area of expertise for me. Please help.

Trevor

I would go with a nice mechanical pump and regulator if you want to keep it simple.

You could upgrade the lines to half inch if you want to. It all depends on how much HP you plan on making.

The block doesn't have provisions for a mechanical pump. I'd like to be able to support 450hp or so.

Holley Black "Pro Series" electric gets my vote for that hp level.

You have an aftermarket block with no provisions or you just don't have a cam lobe for it? Most SBC blocks that aren't using a mechanical have a block off plate over the hole that you can take off. A good mechanical will handle 400+ hp.

The block is from a 86? EFI truck. It has a one-piece man seal, had a flat-tappet cam and an electric fuel pump. There is no block off plate to remove.

Ended up going with a Holley Blue system.

Watch the regulator that comes with the Holley Blue. I have had all kinds of problems with fuel pressure changing after I've set it. I am thinking of upgrading to a new regulator but it seems a shame to spend $100 on one.
I thought it was just my regulator but have heard from others who have had similar problems. Maybe someone has a fix??

I have been through two of those. I tried to fix mine. Not worth it.

If you are talking about the 2 port holley with the allen head adjuster screw on the top. All it is is a checkball with a spring and retainer inside.
