how to adjust air flow in carb ?
when i floor the gas in drive, from a stand still or while cruising at any given speed there is always a delay for about 3-4 seconds before the engine actually kicks in.
now i was told its probably to much air is getting to it first before the gas? now is this a common, fixable thing ... does this even sound right with my problem ?

is it a double pumper or a vaccuum secondary carb?
i would try switching to a lighter secondary spring, if it's for a vacuum secondaries carb. if not, could be that your accelerator pump is not doing its job.

I assume "stock 305" means q-jet.
Go here first https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/quadrajet.shtml . The very first topic is what you're experiencing. Before you do anything, though, make sure your ignition is up to snuff. Retarded timing, weak plugs, wires or coil will also come into play here. And, most cars will tolerate an increase in base timing advance, up to 6 degrees is not uncommon.
The secondary tuning is all what q-jet performance is about, especially a computer-controlled q-jet.
