Idle problem(in drive)

Idle problem(in drive)

I can set the idle in park to whatever I want 800,1000 it still drops in drive(fluctuates around 500 to 600ish)wants to die. I set the mixture screws 7 turns out , lean stop 4 up, rich stop to 1/8 travel IAB adjusted to 30*ish on the dwell.Sprayed around for vac leaks didn't find any,adjusted valve lash twice with engine running. messed with the timing ,,,,,,HELP!!!!!!!

350, CC carb,computer dist.,zz ESC, Cam is GM roller .480 int &exh 235/235@.050 114,torquer 305 heads,9.8 comp,SLP 1 3/4 headers,no A.I.R., 700r4, hooker 3"catback,

Have you check the ignition stuff (wires, cap, rotor, plugs, etc)

yes, all new. gonna change the plugs again though.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak! I would check all hoses again, not just around the carb. You might have the butterflies open too far on your primary's. If their open too far you will be screwing up the air fuel ratio on your idle circuit causing an over rich idle. Does the exaust stink rich when it dies? Your idle problem is caused by either over rich or too lean. If you can't find anything external, I would start looking at the float level. Rochester's are prone to that after high milage.

Well, looks like I'm gonna have to do more spraying for leaks.I'll reset the idle screw too,and go from there.
