car will not start

car will not start

i just got on 84 Z-28 with the l69 HO 305 in it....i had it running the day i got it then tried to start it the other day and it ran for about 2 minutes and decided to die....since then i have not been able to start it again... the guy i bought it from said it was having choke problems and noticed that the day i had it running...i got fuel going into the carb..i got spark and i just got a new battery, but the car still wont start..it wants to but can't....i'm new to these cars i decided to leave the **** rockets so any help is appreciated...

If it's got gas and spark, and tries to start maybe it's flooding.
Is the choke open or closed when you look at it?
Pull a spark plug to see if it's wet from gas or dry.
Not knowing your background with carbed motors, are you just turning the key like an injected engine or hitting the gas a couple times before attempting to start it?

i checked the plugs and they are wet...i press the gas peddle a few times before i try to start it...i also just replaced the cap and rotor and still nothing...

If wet, then flooded. Prop the choke butterfly open then crank it up.
