Useing A Mechanical Pump w/ a TBI Pump

Well my TBI pump is going/gone out since it only works for a while then shuts off. So I was wondering if I could disconnect the wire to the TBI pump and throw a mechanical fuel pump on there, just using the supply line from the old pump and going straight to my carb. Now I guess the question is will the mechanical pump pull fuel through the electric pump even tho the electric pump is not on/working. If yes should I get a higher PSI mechanical pump because the electric one will already act like a regulator or should I be good with getting a normal 6-8psi one. Thanks a lot guys, also its an zz4 cam so im not even 100 percent sure anymoer if its got a lobe for a mechanical pump.

the electric pump only primes the system, you have to remove the electric pump and run the main fuel line to your mechainal pump

fuel pump

you wont be able to run the mechanical pump because the stok pump hasa check valve tht basically opens when the pumps on...so either remove the dead one and put a pikup for the mechanical pump in or jus getta decent in tank pump

i cut an "H" above the gas tank peeled the sides back to give me access to the lines and pump, not that difficult, some would say i butcherd it ,but the sides folded back down nicely and i sealed it,dont forget to leave a vent on one of the discontinued lines, but crimp it considerably so that its not wide open.estimated time ,3 hours
