FI to carb....hp increase
i have a 350 out of a 90 vette, and the compuiter is all wacky and my mechanic can't seem to dial it in right, and i'm just getting sick of paying all the money for this fuel injection system to keep getting fixed...its rediculous...so i'm seriously thinking about switching to a carb...what kind of HP increase will i see with say a wieland stealth intake and a 600 holley carb??also what will this swap do to my gas mileage? dramatically decrease it? its runnign pretty rich right now so my gas mileage isn't really that good at the moment anyways...thanks in advance

Which induction system did you use, the complete '90 Vette TPI, including computer, or the '86 system?
My theory is "work with what you've got". Especially for a daily driver, and especially when emissions is in the picture.
You only described one symptom, "running pretty rich", with no description of what all has been done to try to fix it, nor why you say the computer is all whacky. I assume you've posted over on the TPI forum (don't go there much, myself) to try to resolve this issue.
I'm running carbs now because that's what I've got. If I had TPI, you can be sure I'd be working it over.
Cutting and running to carb may have other consequences that you'll regret later. Especially if you aren't doing the work yourself.

i would be doing all the work on the carb swap this winter by myself....and i posted on the camaroz28 forum about my computer...what happened was, when i bought the car it had the 90 vette motor, but the car used to be a 5.0 TPI, and the guy didnt' switch computers at all..so the 5.0 computer was still in there, and there was no MAF, MAP, or anything on the intake to regulate air intake flow...so i took it in, it now has a vette computer, and a MAF sensor...but its still not running right...at idle, it struggles to keep running, it'll go down to like 250 RPMs then bump up to like 650, and it will just keep doing that at a stop light...and when you start it up it wreaks like gas, and it also feels like its not putting out full power, kind of doggy..i wish i could fix my situation with FI but if i take it in again and spend another 500 bucks like i did the first time, by then I could've had a awesome carb setup..
