Oh Great Trickster, I Ask Of Your Knowlegde!
My dad and I found some loose wires and connectors just laying in the engine block. My dad was stumped and decided not to bother with them, but i'm too stubborn to do the same. I discovered that one of them is suppose to run to the m/c solenoid plug but it's not there! after looking over the carb i discovered that its not the original. It is a Rochester Q-jet 4bbl carb, the likeness to the original is uncanny, but its hookups don't entirely matchup with those of the one in the emissions diagram in the engine compartment. I have a chilton's 82-92 firebird, chilton's 82-94 firebird, and Haynes 82-92 firebird repair manuels. They have quite a bit of information among the three of them, along with the internet, but I thought that you would have more to add. Want i'm really after are the diagrams. If it helps the carb in my car reads 307L FJP, while the emissions diagram on the fan cover mentions a LAP. If you need more information please ask. I'd appreciate any help, thanks.

That isn't the right ID number. Look here http://www.carburetion.com/images/carbid/roch7.jpg and get that number.
Oh, never mind. I'm not Trickster, so I can't be of any help...

I've checked for those designations there's no match.

The number is actually stamped on a surface that faces back (toward the firewall). It should start with "170" and have 8 digits. It could also start with "70" and have 7 digits.
Doesn't really matter, though. It's a mechanical carb and your car started out with a computer controlled carb - that's what all the extra wires are for and what your books most likely show. If the car has a vacuum/mechanical advance distributor, it should work fine (although it won't be emissions legal). If it still has a computer controlled distributor in it, that's a problem (at least for normal street/highway driving).
