SES questions
I recently rebuilt and installed a CC Q-jet on an 85 LG4. The first question I have is could a carb that was working improperly have somehow damaged the Oxygen sensor? The computer shows a code 13. I know the sensor is old and probably needs replaced, but I am trying to figure out what killed it. I know the car was flooding before and I suspect this is what did the damage. Is this possible? These sensors are relatively cheap so I will replace it anyway. The other question is, what causes a code 41? The car runs, so I don't think it is the module. I know the previous owner messed with the timing trying to fix the cars flooding problem. Could the timing being out cause this? I plan to check the timing as soon as I get my light back from a friend. I appreciate all responses in advance.

I replaced the pick up coil and reset the ecm and the codes all went away. What gives? Why would this cause all these codes. I used a GM manual to diagnose code 41 and it lead to the pickup coil. What would this have to do with the O2.

When you disconnect the distributor ECM connector and run the engine (as in setting the timing), the ECM sets a code 41.
Running overly rich can ruin the O2 sensor.

The other reason I replaced the pickup coil was because of what I found under the cap. One of the screws that hold down the rotor was out and stuck in the pickup coil.
